| Feluwa has applied bionics in process pump design when developing it’s new Multi-safe hose-diaphragm pump. At the heart of this pump are two hose-diaphragms which are arranged one inside the other and fully enclose the linear flow path of the conveyed fluid. Simultaneously, they create double hermetic sealing from the hydraulic drive end of the unit. Both hose-diaphragms are actuated by the piston by means of hydraulic fluid. In step with the piston stroke, they are subject to pulsating action, comparable with that of a human vein. The Multi-safe pump has been subjected to an intensive design study in cooperation with the University for Applied Science in Trier, Germany. Based on the results elaborated in the process, distinctive design and colour modifications have been applied to Multisafe hose-diaphragm pump. Frequency converters are applied for central variation of unit flow rates. Moreover, metering volume of each pump head is individually variable by means of a by-pass regulating unit. Furthermore, multi-head design of the pumps allows for the handling of different fluids by a single pump, which means that one (or more) of the pump heads may be applied for the injection of additives into the base fluid. |
